DİSKANT celebrates the 99th birthday of İlhan Usmanbaş with this concert at Borusan Music House. DİSKANT, aspiring to include prominent works of the contemporary world music in its repertoire, organises concerts, workshops and seminars to familiarise the audience, performers and composers with new techniques and aesthetic trends in music, and also conducts research and education in this field.
The piece titled ‘Sekizil’, composed in 1960 by Usmanbaş, will be performed at the concert; there will also be the premieres of works by the new generation of composers. DİSKANT consists of expert musicians who specialise in the performance of new music. The ensemble is also at the centre of attention of composers who pursue “fine craftsmanship” for its impetus achieved through the level it has attained.
Explore Usmanbaş’ repetoire by listening to Metin Ülkü perform ‘Ölümsüz Deniz Taşlarıydı’ (composed 1965) at the Seed at Sakıp Sabancı in 2015 and pianist Hande Dalkılıç’s performance of his 6 preludes for piano.
