The Istanbul Theatre Festival returns for its 22nd edition, with a programme evenly split between Turkish and international performing ensembles. In addition to the 52 performances in 21 venues, there will be panels, film screenings, master classes and workshops throughout the festival.
We’re eager to watch modern twists on classic plays, such as Hamlet | Collage, with renowned Russian actor Evgeny Mironov playing 11 characters from Hamlet. Also of note is PIXEL, a dance performance created by hip-hop icon Mourad Merzouki.
You can find the massive programme for the festival here. Be sure to check the languages carefully – many of the international productions are not in English and will only be screened with Turkish surtitles.
