This is the first concert of the 2nd Ceren Necipoğlu Istanbul International Harp Festival. The proceedings will open with a tribute to Turkish harpist Ceren Necipoğlu (1967–2009) in which her student Ece Yavaş will perform her teacher’s final recital programme, entitled ‘Like a Book’. The second half, meanwhile, will consist of a re-enactment of events in the life of Noor Inayat Khan (1914-44), an Indian princess and harpist who bravely resisted the Nazi regime. Here, world-renowned harpist Florence Sitruk will play works by two Frenchwomen: her harp mentor Henriette Renié (1875-1956) and composition teacher Nadia Boulanger (1887-1979).
