Jacoba Paulus, was born in 1970 in Hamburg, Germany. After working as a jeweller she began painting, took a university course in illustration, trained as a teacher at the Hamburg Seminar for Waldorf Education and taught arts and handicraft in schools for all ages, including a refugee class. She has been a free-lance painter for some years.
Jacoba came to the Borders as a volunteer at Chisholme House where she was Garden Manager for 18 months. Her other interests are hiking and biking through the hills and playing accordion.
“Being new to Hawick, the natural thing was to explore the town by painting – which resulted in some very wintery and rainy works. I‘m now looking forward to discovering more of Hawick’s secrets in the warmer weather.”
