First, the orchestra – under the baton of the distinguished Spanish conductor Juan José Navarro – will perform Keman ve Yaylılar İçin Parça (Piece for Violin and Strings), a new work by the young Turkish composer Ozan Özgüç; the violin part is to be played by Berkay Cantürk, a member of the Istanbul Chamber Orchestra and a friend of the composer.
This will be followed by L’oracion del Torero (The Bullfighter’s Prayer), a piece by the Spanish composer Joaquín Turina (1882–1949) that shows the influence of traditional Andalusian music. In the second half, Russian violinist Maria Solozobova will be the soloist in Mendelssohn’s much-loved Violin Concerto in E minor. JSD
