OPENING RECEPTION:
Friday 12 April from 6pm
Ewen Macdonald was born in 1947 to native Gaelic crofters from the Outer Hebrides. Following some time at art college he worked as a chef, a baker, hewing stone, building and restoring properties. He has also spent time working in Australia. He continues to draw and paint wherever he finds himself. Inspired by the landscape of moor, heath, woodlands and mountains, Macdonald says: “I do not try to copy life nor nature, but build from the inner vision”.
Macdonald’s paintings range from purely retinal explorations of nature and landscape, to more metaphysical studies of the relationship between mind and matter, possibility and actuality.
