Moving Image Makers Collective are delighted to invite you to the launch of their first book Conversations with a Forest, complimenting our Creative Scotland funded and Alchemy Film & Arts supported Moving Image Installation project of the same name in Ruberslaw Woods, Scottish Borders September of 2021.
Contents include words and images about the 10 installations and 3 commissioned essays by:
Gareth Evans – London based writer, editor, film and event producer and Whitechapel Gallery’s Adjunct Moving Image Curator.
Marcus Jack – Curator, writer and art historian based in Glasgow, founding editor of Dowser and recently completed a doctoral thesis on the history of artists’ moving image in Scotland since 1970.
Amy Cutler – live cinema artist, geographer, filmmaker, musician and curator based in London. Cutler did a Leverhulme ECR fellowship on British forests and also runs the internationally touring ensemble live cinema show Nature’s Nickelodeons.
Join us at Unit Four: Cornucopia in Hawick to celebrate the project finale in person with nibbles and refreshments with freshly published book available to purchase. Cornucopia also has a wonderful range of books in stock too. We will also be watching work in progress from MIMC members between 8 - 9pm so you are warmly welcome to join us to find out who MIMC are, what we do and to watch some films!
