Diyarbakırlık Tahsin (1875º1937), or Tahsin Siret as he became, is considered Turley’s finest maritime painter. He studied at the officer’s school in Kuleli and was praised by Hoca Ali Rıza. The watery world of the Bosphorus and the Golden Horn were his passion. During the First World War, he was sent to the front to paint.
