Isabel Muñoz explores the essence of Göbeklitepe and its surroundings in her exhibition of ultra large photographs taken in 2022. Cornucopia has returned to the theme ever since Professor Harald Hauptmann’s extraordinary article in Cornucopia 26 (2002), ‘The Shock of the Old’ (see below for link).
In Cornucopia 59 Barnaby Rogerson visited Göbekli Tepe after it had become a major destination, describing it as ‘the most important, bewitching, intriguing and mysterious archaeological discovery of the 21st century’.
In Cornucopia 66, Andrew Finkel will be talking to the artist about her dramatic new images. So watch this space.
What you don’t see here is their enormous scale of the images, and Muñoz’s use of additonal materials.
