On March 13 2019, the Croatian pianist Goran Filipec will be the sixth performer to grace the stage in Emirgan (writes John Shakespeare Dyson). Born in Rijeka in 1981, he studied the piano at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, as well as in The Hague, Cologne and Zagreb. His album Paganini, a recording of Liszt’s Paganini Studies released in 2016, won the Ferenc Liszt Society’s Grand Prix du Disque,
The leitmotif of the programme is Paganini, with Liszt’s Etudes raising the curtain.
