In this recital, the Azeri composer and jazz pianist İlyas Mirzayev, trained in classical music composition at the conservatoires in Baku and Moscow, is to perform some of his own works in the jazz genre, including a suite entitled Blue Red Green – these being the colours of the flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan. At the age of 16, Mirzayev began receiving lessons in jazz piano from Vagıf Mustafazade, the father of the famous singer Aziza Mustafazadeh. In 1999 he began to perform as a jazz pianist at festivals in various countries, and on one occasion played with ‘jazz legend’ Joe Zawinul. His album Blue Red Green was released by Universal Music in 2004. This concert, one of the Türk Telekom Prime Coffee Concerts, is to take place in the foyer of the Türk Telekom Opera Hall.
