Starting November 14th to the 24th, 2024, Istanbul Modern Cinema program celebrates The Locarno Film Festival’s 77th year with a selection of 11 films. Among the many Turkish premieres is the Golden Leopard winning film Toxic, Akiplėša), a debut film by Lithuanian director Saulė Bliuvaitė. Other films include Hong Sang-soo’s latest work, By the Stream (Suyoocheon), and the animated film Olivia & The Clouds (Olivia & Las Nubes), which explores a Dominican woman’s journey through the ghosts of her relationship, with music composed by Cem Mısırlıoğlu. Guest speaker director Denise Fernandes will talk after the screening of her film Hanami, a coming-of-age story set on Fogo Island.
