The speaker David Lane, born in 1928, was a junior member of the British Embassy in Ankara for the two years from the beginning of 1959. With the help of some recently unearthed letters to his parents, he recalls his memories of Ankara and Turkey in the period leading up and subsequent to the coup d’état of 27 May 1960.
