As winter chill settles in Istanbul, there’s nowhere cozier to while away an evening than at Nardis. This month’s line-up, with old favourites and new arrivals, is sure to keep things hot.
We’re particular looking forward to 3 Generation on February 6, a project uniting three Turkish jazz musicians playing primarily original compositions. Their blend of funk, jazz and fusion is sure to light up the night.
Taking their name from Thelonious Monk’s particular quirk of spinning awestruck on his piano stool, the quintet SPIN plays contemporary jazz, with heavy improvisation making each performance distinct and unique. They will perform on February 13.
Ece Şermet Quartet brings Brazilian sunshine to Nardis. Şermet performs standards by Jobim, Moraes and Gilberto in the original Portuguese on February 18, along with selections by Charlie Parker and Duke Ellington.
Make sure to check the Nardis website for their full programme. Bookings are generally strongly recommended.
