In this concert ‘Orkestra İstanbul’, founded by Oğuzhan Balcı (its conductor) in 2005, is to play Vivaldi’s Concerto for Strings (‘Concerto alla rustica’) in G major, RV 151; J.S. Bach’s Violin Concerto in D minor, BWV 1052R, Elgar’s three-movement Serenade for String Orchestra in E minor, Opus 20; and Grieg’s five-movement Holberg Suite, Opus 40. The violin solos will be performed by Olgu Kızılay, a former member of the Borusan Quartet. This season, Orkestra İstanbul is sponsored by TEB Yıldız Bankacılık.
