All Ravel’s piano works performed by Gökhan Aybulus, Başar Can Kıvrak & Emre Yavuz
The three pianists in this concert, which celebrates the 150th anniversary of the birth of the French composer Maurice Ravel (1875-1937), are to perform all of his piano music. The first part of the concert will focus on those of his pieces that may be described as ‘impressionistic’. The second part, meanwhile, will showcase works that are mostly melancholy in mood (including the Menuet sur le nom d’Haydn, the famous Pavane pour une infante défunte and the technically challenging Gaspard de la nuit); the third will consist of those works in which Ravel’s innovative side, sometimes expressed through the medium of neo-classicism, comes to the fore.
