Rethinking Economic Sources of Hamidian Legitimacy by Ms. Naz Yücel, PhD candidate in history.
Ms. Yücel will discuss the regime of the late Ottoman Sultan Abdülhamid II (r. 1876 - 1909). She will focus on the financial underpinnings that enabled the regime’s sustenance for over three decades, with a focus on the Sultan’s Privy Purse and the property and concessions Sultan Abdulhamid II acquired in the course of his rule.
