Vocalist Samara Joy, a well-known performer at jazz festivals in the USA, was honoured with the distinction ‘Best New Artist’ at the 65th Grammy Awards ceremony in 2023. (At this ceremony she sang Can’t Get Out of This Mood, and her album Linger Awhile’was chosen as Best Jazz Vocal Album.) Samara Joy’s voice is described on her website as ‘rich and velvety yet precociously refined’; her videos have received a large number of views on social media. At the CRR on April 19, she is to be accompanied by Evan Sherman (drums), Michael Migliore (double bass) and Luther Allison (piano).
