In her third solo show at Zilberman Gallery, the artist Zeynep Kayan explores repetitious structures through performative photography, video and sound pieces. The body becomes another material to use in the creation of images. Kayan uses the camera as a way to examine her own body, and attempt to exhaust the possibilities of movement.
As part of her videos, Kayan interacts with objects like pipes, mirrors, scissors and heat insulators, sometimes mimicking these objects. She bends herself to fit into the voids they create, or attempts to hide behind them. Through these exercises, Kayan challenges our sense of perception and time.
