Murat Morova’s ninth solo exhibition at Galeri Nev Istanbul may not break radically new ground, but it deepens his engagement with themes rooted in Sufi mysticism and his Alevi-Bektaşi heritage. The artist continues to engage with profound mystical concepts such as the insan-i kamil – the ‘perfect human’ – and portrays it in his own calligraphic form.
Taking its title from a poem by the celebrated 20th-century Iranian poet Füruğ Ferruhzad, the exhibition further connects Morova’s visual language to the rich traditions of mysticism. Through a delicate interplay of Indian ink, acrylic and watercolor on hand-made paper, and with techniques such as marbling, Morova creates works that are both visually captivating and spiritually charged, inviting viewers into a world where craftsmanship and deep spiritual inquiry intertwine.
