Due to take the stage on April 30 – International Jazz Day – is the British-Bahraini trumpeter, flugelhornist and composer Yazz Ahmed. Her style, a blend of jazz and electronic sound, has been described as ‘psychedelic Arab jazz’. The albums she has released so far are Finding My Way Home (2011), La Saboteuse (2017) and Polyhymnia (2019). La Saboteuse, which earned her international acclaim, was named Jazz Album of the Year by The Wire magazine. Polyhymnia, meanwhile, is a six-movement suite named after the Greek muse of music, poetry and dance.
