The photography gallery at the Istanbul Modern presents a selection of black and white photographs by Yıldız Moran, Turkey’s first academically trained woman photographer. Among the 86 photographs on display are some that have never been seen publicly before.
The subjects of her photographs, mostly shot between 1950-1962, include nature, abstraction, landscapes, portraits, life, Anatolia, Istanbul and places abroad. Her work presents a lyrical mid-century Anatolian aesthetic.
