The Sadberk Hanım Museum turned 40 this year and celebrates with an eye-watering exploration of design motifs reflected across its astonishing collections. Rich pickings are selected from a variety of different collections and historical eras, drawing from both the SHM’s superb archaeological collection and its treasure trove of Turkish and Islamic art.
There are 446 objects in all packed into the beautifully lit gallery, which now comes with an absolute no-crowds guarantee! Exhibits are divided into five main groups, Life and Power (perception of the world and the universe), Nature, Figurative Decoration, Order and Harmony, and Space (ways in which people shape their surroundings). HIGHLY recommended. The exhibition of course comes with another of the museum’s magnificent catalogues, now available from cornucopia.net.
