HALI is celebrating its 40th anniversary and the 200th edition of HALI magazine with an exhibition of antique rugs, textiels and tribal art at the Mall Galleries in London, the first time it has held an event at the venue.
As always the show is full of panache and charcter with surprising flourishes round every corner…
from the geometric 'garden' in Gallery Aydın's fascinating 18th-century Anatolian rug…
to a gorgeous pair of Ottoman shoes (offered by the Achdjian Gallery…
Daniel and Sean (above), down from the headquarters of the Cornucopia empire in Hawick, are manning the Cornucopia bookstall, with its latest selection of books as well as issue No.59, just out, which joins the impressive array of collectable back numbers dating back a more youthful 27 years. The fine rug that covers the stall is a modern copy of a traditional design woven in the time-honoured way on looms in Anatolia, and is on loan from Clive Rogers. The fair, which started this afternoon, is open 11am-6pm on Friday and Saturday, and 11am-3pm on Sunday.
